MHAMD Perspectives

Join Us for an August 29 Screening of the Film, Suicide: The Ripple Effect

Nearly one million people die annually by suicide globally. And experts estimate that for every one death by suicide, approximately 115 people are directly affected and impacted. And even when a person survives an attempt, its effect can resonate for years to come. But there’s also something else to remember. There can be hope through the pain.

MHAMD would like to invite you to a special screening of the film, Suicide: The Ripple Effect, on Wednesday, August 29, at 7 p.m. at the Waugh Chapel Stadium & IMAX in Gambrills, Md.

The film tells the moving story of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to end his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Although Kevin miraculously survived, his struggle with the issues that led him to his suicide attempt did not end. That’s where his story begins. This film chronicles his 17-year journey to better understand the ripple effects his suicide attempt had on his family, friends and the first responders who saved his life. It also shows how he has used his experiences to help others who are struggling.

Following the screening, there will be a panel of experts who will discuss the film and the topic of suicide.

You can order tickets here for the screening. We encourage you to order your tickets as soon as possible if you are interested in attending. Check out the poster below for more information.
