Providing Information for Those Affected by Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Healthy New Mom’s Program Information
MHAMD has long championed the mental health of new mothers and families. In 2005, Maryland was one of nine states selected to launch a perinatal depression education campaign, reaching over 1 million people through media, community outreach, and provider education. We also increased screening and developed tools for health professionals. In 2016, we re-launched the Healthy New Moms campaign in response to ongoing demand, incorporating feedback from moms and providers to create targeted resources. Our mission remains: to raise awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and connect families and providers with vital support across Maryland.
If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking of suicide, get help immediately.

The Perinatal Depression & Anxiety Outreach Program
Sinai Hospital of Baltimore Community Initiatives | 410-601-7832
The Perinatal Depression Outreach Program (PDOP) is dedicated to helping women understand the emotions that accompany pregnancy and the postpartum period. Since many women experience some form of depression or anxiety during pregnancy or after giving birth, Sinai Hospital’s PDOP helps women identify when their experience is more than the “baby blues” and requires further assessment and treatment. They offer depression screening, clinical assessments, treatment referrals, education on the risk and symptoms of perinatal depression and anxiety.

Resources for Safe Infant Sleep
Each year, there are approximately 3,400 sudden unexpected infant deaths (SUID) in the United States. These deaths occur among infants less than 1 year old. Parents and caregivers (all other persons caring for a infant) can help reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths by learning the ABCDs of safe sleep.
